Rituals and Ceremonies
Hindu practices usually involve finding ones self. It is very normal for people to stop whatever they are doing in the middle of the day, and worship at a family shrine or at a temple. It is also common for individuals to recite from religious texts, sing hymns, practice meditation and chanting mantras. On occasions like birth, marriage and death, people preform life circle rituals. Hinduism has lots of signs as well. The Om represents wealth, prosperity, and is usually mistaken as a swastika. Another sign called tilaka, represents the flower of faith. Hindu festivals are said to be a beautiful weave of individual and social life to darma. The festivals usually celebrate hindu mythology while coinciding with the seasons. One of the most important ceremony is the marriage between two individuals.
